I was born in Newport,RI and grew up in Madison,CT. I started riding when I was 11 years old on my sister Becky’s Fuji Touring bike. I began racing bikes at age 13 with a club in Clinton,CT. Working in a bike shop is something I did from time to time until I moved here and opened The Devil’s Gear Bike Shop. It has been a real lesson in a world of things. I still race bikes and work a lot with various cycling groups.

I realized several years ago that I was trying to do everything- sales, service, repairs and all the behind the scenes business stuff. Well, it was killing me, so I hired people who where better at all those things than me and now I work mostly behind the scene at The Shop.

I’m still here, trust me. The people running The Shop are doing a better job at it than I ever could.

Whatever mood I’m in, I always get a big grin from riding my bike. My favorite part about any bike ride is when I find the right gear, and it just feels effortless. That moment is what I’m searching for pretty much every time I’m on a bicycle.

Mitch Dubey !!
To our great sadness, Mitchell Dubey was killed in March of 2011. We miss him very much and think of him often.

I’m Mitch, I’m from Los Angeles, California. I love to travel. You’re probably wondering “Why New Haven?” …. Before I ever moved out here, I heard that The Devils Gear was the place to be. I was welcomed with open arms and a killer staff, which is why it’s so great to be working here now and part of the crew. My bike is a ticket to personal freedom and I have my father to thank for that. I love records, vegan food, writing, photography, and Monk above all else.
